Revd Paul Hughes, Associate Minister

After spending many years leading and working in Youth Ministry Paul was ordained as an Anglican priest in 2013. Paul previously gained a degree in Information Technology and worked in that field for ten years at the University of Melbourne, however ministry remained central to his heart and calling.

Paul’s main role is to lead the English language ministry at St Mark’s, Templestowe and to support the youth ministry at both St Mark’s and St Timothy’s. Paul is married to Anna with three daughters and loves to have a kick of the footy and watch the Hawthorn Football Club when he can.

Revd Ivy Wong, Cantonese and Families Minister

Revd Ivy Wong was ordained as an Anglican priest in 2010, she has experience in different Churches. From 2015 onwards she started to serve in St Timothy’s Bulleen. Her main role is to serve in the Chinese congregation, but she is also involved in Children ministry. She is a registered spiritual director at Wellspring Centre so she is able to help parishioners to discern their situation and help them to face their challenges.

Revd Deitrich Cheung, Youth Minister

Hi, I am Dietrich, I am married to Lois. I am currently serving as the Deacon of St. Timothy’s Anglican Church in Bulleen- where I have been the Youth Minister there for the last 2 years. I have a variety of ministry experience, but my passion and heart is investing in the faith of youth.

Before God called me to ministry, I worked in Sales and Marketing for various companies doing different roles. I studied Business Management in University at RMIT and went to Balwyn High School. God has used these experiences to teach me many things which I take with me into ministry.

In my spare time I like to play soccer, ride my bike and cook, or just spend time at home with my wife and watch Netflix/YouTube or (sometimes) read.

John Tam, Cantonese Lay Minister

My name is John Tam. We are a family of four, my wife Michelle, son Eric, and our daughter Cleo. We migrated to Melbourne in 2009.  In response to God’s calling, my wife and I began to equip ourselves through the Melbourne School of Theology in June 2016.  After 4 years of study, I finished my Bachelor of Ministry in mid 2020. After graduation, we were sent from an independent church to join St Timothy’s in Bulleen. In February 2021, I became a part time Lay Minister. My main task is to work together with Rev Ben and Rev Ivy Wong to set up and mobilise various ministries in the Cantonese congregation. Thanks to God’s provision, we have the opportunity to edify brothers and sisters through New Seeker Groups and Fellowship. Furthermore, I am able to apply what I have learned and implement this into our ministries as we serve the needs of our people.

Connie Gao, Mandarin Lay Minister

Connie grew up, studied and worked in China and moved to Melbourne with her husband John in 2011, becoming a Christian soon after. In 2017, she left her job to start a Bachelor of Theology at Melbourne School of Theology and is currently a theological student.

Connie joined the ministry team at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church Bulleen in early 2021 as a Lay Minister. She currently serves in the Mandarin congregations at both Bulleen and Templestowe (St. Mark’s).
